Each of these illustrious beings resides (along with myriad others) within the complex Magickal Universe known in the outer world as Bill Siebert. Bill began to study magic consciously in 1968. On July 6th, 1972 he formally accepted the Law of Thelema and began his quest for initiation into the Astrum Argentum (A∴A∴). He vowed that if the A∴A∴ were no longer manifest on the outer, he would work the Current on his own in order to re-connect the catena from the Fountainhead of the Order to Malkuth.
In 1973, Bill made contact with Frater IADNAMAD of the Typhonian Branch of the OTO (Ordo Templi Orientis) and successfully probationed under Soror Tanith Potnia Therion the following year. While still a probationer. Bill put his personal resources at the disposal of the Order and began to oversee various publishing projects. He became co-editor of MEZLA, the official organ of the (Typhonian) OTO, issued a $.93 edition of Liber AL vel Legis, and designed various artistic variations on Liber Oz.
By 1977, Bill had reached the rank of V° within the OTO and began a period of magickal queasiness. Bill was (and still is) an eclectic, who borrows from many sources, and integrates many diverse Currents in accord with his Will. But, the Typhonian Branch of the OTO was a very specialized magickal engine. Those whose exploratory inclinations drifted too far afield from Grant’s vision of the Order began to chafe at the re-directive influences they received from the Sovereign Sanctuary. So Bill began to explore beyond the realm of his grade requirements.
Soror Tanith put him in touch with Soror Andahadna of the Maat Pangrove Abbey of Thelema, Soror 0-Maku turned him on to the potential use of entheogenic sacraments, and Bill began a conscious integration of science fiction & fantasy novels into his Thelemic Magick. Although he would not have phrased it this way at the time, by 1979 he was at the brink of transmuting his apprenticeship in the Typhonian OTO into a Journey which would lead him beyond the Abyss to the Fountainhead of the Order.
Around this time. Bill also began to reap internal harvests from his previous 11 years of magickal discipline. In his own Universe, Bill had attained to Tiphareth. Internal guides began to supplement (& in some cases supplant) external teachers (books, letters from teachers, etc.) as his tutors. Adria Moloch, the Beautiful King, was his first Internal teacher/friend and/or the first facet of Bill’s internal Universe to manifest as an autonomous entity. From his present perspective on the Universe, it is clear that Adria is/was Bill’s HGA (Holy Guardian Angel), but 8 years ago, neither Bill nor Adria felt very comfortable with the formality which such language engendered.
During this period (known fondly as the Mattress Room days). Bill formulated the Thelemic Temple of the Double Vortex along with Soror 0-Maku (also a V° OTO member) and Tiger Lady (a self-taught intuitive feminist witch). On March 28th, 1981 Soror 0-Maku was mounted (in the Voodoo sense of the word) by an entity calling herself UT, Goddess of Sluts. During her visitation, UT charged Bill with the formulation/governance of a Thelemic Powerzone dedicated to the vivification & reification of certain aspects of the Sisterhood of BABALON.
In the summer of 1981, Math of the ChRySTAL HUMM was founded on 23 acres of rolling hills South of Ithaca. Several attempts at communal living were attempted, but (for the most part) the Powerzone was supported by Bill & 0-Maku. In 1982 Frater Hegit introduced Bill & 0-Maku to Frater NOT of Aleister Crowley’s OTO and they were both invited to an OTO picnic to encourage communication between the Typhonian & A.C. branches of the Order. At this picnic (known as the Harriman Working) Bill got his first real taste of how initiate snobbery and group loyalty hinders real communication. But he also saw how group loyalty created a spirit of family, even amongst those who didn’t particularly like one-another. Bill decided to expand his initiatory links within the Order so that he might learn other aspects of group dynamics. In 1983, he received his Minerval initiation in Aleister Crowley’s OTO with full knowledge of both Hymanaus Alpha, Caliph of A.C.’s OTO and Soror Tanith, X° Sovereign of the Typhonian OTO in North America. Shortly thereafter. Bill was issued diplomatic papers from Soror Tanith, charging him with the Office of Inter-Order diplomat.
Bill’s independence did not sit well with either Kenneth Grant or Grady McMurty, but he befriended many members of both branches of the Order, encouraging innovation, learning whatever was interesting, and sharing his own insights with his many magickal friends. In March of 1984, Bill and frater Sam performed a trans-temporal working in Celebration of the return of the Phoenix to Heliopolis. This was the first ritual in which Bill consciously manifested the godform of Chorozon, Lord of the Abyss. Bill & Sam merged Universes. Bill emerged intact, but his Universe would never be the same.
In June of that year, Sam & Bill co-hosted the Convocation of the Magi and Bill was introduced to the wonders of the neo-Pagan movement. By Fall, Bill had been to 3 festivals, met many new friends, and began to integrate the Shamanic/Pagan Current into his Thelemic Magickal Universe. Bill then became an active force within the local Pagan community, introduced red meat to their (heretofore vegetarian) feasts, helped to open their circle to the Great Rite, and shared entheogenic sacrament with those local Pagans whose Will was aligned with this Path.
By this time. Bill was no longer involved with the sectarian goals of either branch of the OTO. Grant had suspended him from active membership & Grady had placed him on Bad Report.
Within a year. Bill had managed to integrate his Shamanic experiences into his OTO Universe. He edited & distributed a new issue of MEZLA, which had ceased publication several years previous. Together with 2 other Order members, he formulated the Chthonic OTO, whose founding convention was held at the SPiRaL Festival at the Full Moon in September, 1985.
At present. Bill is working to stabilize Math of the ChRySTAL HUMM, reify The Order of BABALON, manifest the Chthonic OTO upon the outer, while learning how to relax and enjoy life to the fullest.
Math of the ChRySTAL HUMM is a functional trans-Æonic Thelemic Powerzone functioning within the 11-Star. Math is a Sanscrit word meaning a Teaching Order. We are a magickal R-&-D team functioning within a Fagan/Shamanic/Thelemic tradition. We learn/teach/share with one-another and with those Apprentice, Journeymen, & Master Magickians who interact with us here at the HUMM, &/or when we are on the road.
From Bill’s perspective, the ever-evolving node around which Math of the ChRySTAL HUMM scintillates is the balanced conscious use of Sex Magick, Entheogenic Sacraments, & Shamanic Ritual within a context of absolute personal responsibility. The seedcore of the group soul manifests consciously insofar as each inter-dependent element of the non-hierarchal Gestalt is an autonomous self-aware self-actualizing individual whose Will is to dissolve barriers in order to Network.
We feel very strongly that Victim Consciousness perpetuates the myth that there is a Them which limits Us from doing our Will. Such myths have no place within Math of the ChRySTAL HUMM. Within our Reality, there are no Thems. There is no thought, word, or action which is not part of a mutually beneficial consensual dance. There are no Victims, no Persecutors, and no need for Rescuers.
We welcome communication/communion with other individuals &/or organizations who work with similar tools &/or along similar Paths. As part of our magickal outreach program, we make available crash-space for travelers, & work-study scholarship programs for a limited number of ingenious individuals. We also conduct individual retreats, individual & group initiations, host a variety of Pagan/Shamanic Circles throughout the year, and sponsor Weekend group retreats as a part of our newly flowering College of the Magi.
Bill is not into letter writing. He already has a pile of un-answered mail over 5 feet deep stretching back over the past 11 years. But. he does love to receive mail, especially if it is interesting! If you send him an intriguing letter telling him who you are & what sort of magicks you are into, he may send you an invitation to come visit, or to attend a pre-scheduled Magickal event. If you do write or phone, please be candid. We are serious about our magick & we do not have the time or patience to extend ourselves to anyone whom we feel is hiding from us, or whom we feel is negatively attuned to our Path &/or our style of working.
Our work is the Great Work. We are interested in all whose Will is aligned with our own, but we need to see who you are before we can interact with you as a magickal person, rather than as just another piece of mail.
